APOLOGIES, BUT:
Firstly: I wish to arrange for visits with people with several days advance warning, subject to updating two days out, the evening before, and the morning of, and cancellation up to at least then. All offers subject to change according to my medical condition.
Blunt: I am in considerable pain until further notice. Please assume that until I say otherwise, no matter how polite or coherent I seem.
Please assume that I will not be reading your email, FB message, comment, be online, do phone, etc., except once every 48 hrs.
Don't take casual, constructed, writing by me meanwhile as indicating otherwise.
I wish to arrange get-togethers and visits, but length to be determined as it goes. However, I would very much appreciate being social, and having guests, so please do email me or call, and let's talk about getting together!
Visits do NOT include invitations to stay overnight. They do not include offers to put you up for either a night or several nights. No matter how friendly you are with the house owner or me. I'm simply not up to that. My apologies to anyone I confused on this point in earlier posts, somehow.
Visits arranged a week in advance are good; two weeks in advance is great. Two days arrangement might be fine, and it can't hurt to email or call to ask about one day notice. I won't yell at you if you email or call a couple of hours before wanting to drop by, but I may not see your message in time.
Sorry.
Secondly, from here:
ADDENDUM, 12.22.10: Sorry for not updating here in so long! So Busy! With Good Things, aside from Mostly Not Walking! Please also LOOK FOR ME AT Obsidian Wings, both as poster and commenter; I hope to start regular posting at Amygdala again in January, but we shall see.
Meet me in the Bay Area at the next One Of These!
Meet me at an open thread!
Or here. But there are more folks there.
My financial situation is where it was a year ago, save with fewer subscribers, but not enough loss to cause any crisis at present; I'm okay; it's post-July that's the unknown for me, for much, now. But meanwhile, yes, donations and subscriptions are, uh, welcome.
Except from anyone who feels the pinch themselves.
And there are a billion people more in need than I am. I have it easy, compared to so many, including millions in America. Give to the charity of your choice, and I particularly recommend giving to homeless shelters and organizations.
And next time you pass a street person who you think is going to waste your money, and looks particularly mean and scary and the last person you'd ever help: spare some change. You don't know their story.
Otherwise: joy to the world, a merry new year, and bless you all.
UPDATE, 12.22.10, 12:10 p.m.: Having just gone over my finances, I've hit the point where it would be a Bad Idea for me to spend more than a few dollars for at least two weeks.
Aside from the costs of shipping my stuff here, switching from shorts and tee-shirts to many layers of clothing, plus having to buy stuff to compensate in small ways for suddenly not being able to walk hardly at all and needing to lots and lots, and buying other stuff to cope with this house, almost all online, has cost considerably more than the substantial amount I'd already planned for.
The Safeway delivery arriving today from online ordering yesterday, I see, has hit my No More level.
I hope to be able to get SNAP/food stamps in a couple of months, but first comes my appointment to get a State ID, which I applied for in November, and was given the date of December 29th.
Assuming my feet will let me get there.

Secondly, from here:
[...] The Management at Amygdala requests that, for now, those of you who know where he lives, or can figure it out, which isn't all that hard, please make all appointments to visit by email, and wait for clear email confirmation of your appointment time.Read The Rest Scale: 4 out of 5. Thanks again. Ow. Needles hammered by ballpeen hammers.
The Management thanks you, and asks that you forgive him for currently being someone who will completely freak out if you show up and knock at his front door to surprise him.
This includes expecting him to answer his phone. This includes coming by to look in the windows.
Management will let you know when we're more earthquake proof here at Amygdala Central, which dwells entirely inside management's head, and when we're less skittish, when not prepared, than your trad hog on ice.
We thank you kindly, and assure you that this will lead to a quicker return to blogging, which is currently on hold for a variety of reasons, including sufficient gout pain for me to be researching objective pain measures so I can use accurate, rather than vague, language.
No, I don't need help doing the research, I'm already pretty much there, thanks. Everything else is fine and dandy. Consider me as doing great until notified otherwise: chronic pain is chronic pain. I'm coping, I'm used to it, it's been part of my life since 1991, it is what it is.
Aside from that norm, and anticipated adjustments, which included room for endless unanticipated adjustments, life here is extremely wonderful, and full of amazing insights and revelations. Plus, I have two cats to love, study, and be with.
But please don't stop by without arranging it with me in advance, by email, and I may be taking email breaks of up to two days at a time, at times.
Thanks.
ADDENDUM, 12/02/10, 9:58 p.m.: A more positive view of this would be don't bother the writer while he's thinking. [...]

Ouch.
ReplyDeleteI didn't respond to your PEW notes at Obsidian Wings for a simple reason - the answer was rejected.
I'll be brief : rather than refer to propaganda assembled by the usual suspects, I suggest a quick Search on terms "Palestinians ejected from villages by IDF"
They are cranky because goaded beyond human endurance - something Caterpillar recognized when it refused to supply any more specially equipped IDF bulddozers for knocking down villages, filling in wells, and flattening groves of olive trees.
